Treatment Sheet (Part Deux)
My first draft of my treatment sheet was mearly the foundation of what is yet to come.
0:10-:26 seconds
Me playing guitar, setting up in my garden, looking all cool, nothings gone wrong yet.
0:26-0:32 seconds
Fly gets in my way, I get slightly annoyed.
0:32-0:43
Something falls off the shed, making my video look unprofessional.
0:48-0:56 (Chorus)
A tramp casually walks out of the shed. I am confused and shocked.
0:56-1:03
Tractor compromises my view, camera is hidden behind the tractor, I try to poke my head around the tractor, you will barely see me.
1:03-1:16
Ducks attack me whilst I am on the chair, I fall back, ducks continue to attack.
1:16-1:20
I put my hand over the camera, and turn it off, the blackness from my hand then turns into the other shot of my setting up the camera in the park.
1:20-1:30
Amp falls over whilst singing, I go to plug in the amp, and people take my bench space
1:30-1:40
People start to eat and get out food and newspaper, I struggle to play the guitar.
1:40-1:46
A man spills food on me, I go ballistic and get up from the bench and walk off.
1:40-1:46
I begin to walk off, fixing my trousers and then looking behind me.
1:46-1:49
I get hit by the swing whilst looking behind me, slow motion shot as I get hit and fall down to the floor.
1:49:1:55
I hit the floor, close up on face, still singing, and getting up
1:55-2:02
I sit up, stare at the camera in medium close up whilst still singing, going to get up, camera follows.
2:02-2:04
I stare back at the child on the swing, holding my face and swear at him, over the shoulder shot showing my hand gesture.
2:04-2:06
I have turned around at this point and I am faced with a parent, close up on the parents face and my face, filled with fear.
2:06-2:08
Close up of me saying the line 'I'll be okay' whilst looking useless
2:08-2:13
Camera pans to me running away from parent, and parent following, walking.
2:13-2:19
I grab the camera, it again is darkened by my hand, same effect is used to cut to the next scene.
2:19
Fallen onto a beach wall thing, singing to the camera, I lay my back down and sing to the sky, trying to relax.
2:33-2:37
Looks at camera, but see's a beach behind the camera. A look of shock and ore fills my face.
2:37-2:40
I point and jump around at a beach (camera only focuses on me) The camera then turns to the beach.
2:40-2:45
Me running towards the beach, camera is behind me chasing me, use of steady cam.
2:45-2:51
Close up on a single white chair, then cuts to me setting up my amplifier, ready to sit down
2:51-2:55
Long shot of me about to sit down, looking happy.
2:55-3:13
'I'll be okay' I fall down on 'okay' through the chair, everything attacks me, everything that I have mentioned.
Mention footballers somewhere
Construction on Summer house
3 MAXIMUM different shot angles, need to be good
TBC

Location(s)
Location is obviously essential in order to film my music video, as location can determine the mood and obviously atmosphere of the video. Props and cast will also play a main part in my video, as it makes it more interesting and intriguing.
For my first scene, I will be filming in my garden, the reason for this being the song is supposed to start off happy and tranquil, and by filming in my garden on a bright sunny day really compliments the song's lyrics and tone.
Camera shots: The camera for the most part will be using medium shots, long shots and close ups.
My video consists of short sharp camera shots, all primarily focusing on me, as that is wear all the drama and action happens. The reason for the camera focusing on me for almost the entirety of the video is because it is genuinely my music video I am trying to create.
For the first scene, the video starts by having the camera come up from the grass turning into a medium shot of myself playing the guitar outside my garden shed, as this introduces me as the character and is very personal. The camera then focuses on my outfit, what I am wearing, showing that I have made an effort for this video, camera showing my upper body, showing my facial expression is happiness. The long shot continues as the tramp leaves the shed, snap close up on my face to show myself looking shocked and confused. The camera will then reverse back to a long shot, and myself going back to playing the song.
Ducks then walk across the path of the film, I stand up and look annoyed, a medium shot is then used on me singing, and a tractor stops right in front of the camera, my head appears from the side of the tractor. After this has happened, the camera returns to a long shot, and footballers ruin the last part of the chorus, I stand up and yell at them, I walk up to the camera and go to turn it off, however this cleverly cuts to the next scene.
What will be included in the set is as follows:
Second scene analysis: The scene starts with the end of the first scene, I set up the camera looking like a novice, I put my AMPLIFIER on the bench and start playing. People then sit on the bench, they begin to annoy me, someone spills food on me, I go nuts and go to get up and walk into head first into a swing. The camera goes slow-motion as I fall to the ground, the camera then ends up on the ground where I am, filming me singing, face on the floor. I then get up, camera medium close up, I swear at the kid, (over shoulder shot) the parent is behind the kid, medium shot of the parent walking towards me, close up on my face to show horror, the camera then focuses on me, I run out of the view of the camera and the parent follows, but the camera doesn't.
Third scene analysis: I fall onto a ledge, holding my face, as I am very stressed out, looking into camera, I look to the side of me, and there is an empty beach with one single white chair lying there. Camera focuses on my face, then the single white chair, I grab the camera, and the other camera follows me down the beach, I trip but maintain balance slow motion is used to show the success I think I will achieve. A long shot is used of me setting up the amp, I give the camera a thumbs up, I am about to sit down to play, and the chair breaks, I sit there and look depressed, camera zooms up to the board I am holding up that says 'Tomorrrow is a Brand New Day'.

What will be included in the set is as follows:
- Garden shed - For myself to be filmed upon
- A guitar
- Ducks
- A tractor
- A football
- A wooden chair
- A small amplifier (will/might be changed)
Now, because my music video takes place in three separate locations, the set will obviously change depending on where the location is.
For my second scene I will be filming on a park bench in a local park with children running around, a typically busy atmosphere, showing that I (being the main character of my video) am trying to find different locations to film that have a lively and happy atmosphere.

The set will include:
- A park bench
- A guitar
- Children running around
- A swing/climbing frames - typical park apparatus
- Two adults
- A small amplifier (will/might be changed)
The last scene in my choice of scenery is a beach. The reason for this being, I (in the video) have chosen particularity busy areas to choose to film in, and a beach is the most unpopulated area I can find. There is one single chair on the beach, it looks like nothing can go wrong, the beach is completely empty, it seems like a perfect choice of filming.
The set will include:
- A guitar
- A beach chair (white)
- A small amplifier (will/might be changed)
After the final scene has been shot, and I have given up trying to make my music video, I hold up a sign that says 'Tomorrow will be a Brand New Day' stating that I will not give up on my music video.

Planning Starts Now..
In order for my end project to look professional and realistic, I needed to first set the foundations of my project, which would include..
- A Construction documentary
- A Treatment sheet
- Where I would be filming/shooting
- Who would be in my music video
- If I needed any props
- Storyboarding
- And finally an animatic storyboard
If I am able to follow these guidelines...

Target Audience Research
In order for my music video to be successful with the public, then figuring out the target audience for my music video is essential if it is to become popular.
Seeing as though the genre of my music video is acoustic/rock, target audience(s) would be people who enjoy listening to that specific genre. Bands and artists such as Jack Johnson, James Blunt, James Morrison and the likes are similar to the artist I have chosen to perform a music video on (Joshua Radin). Acoustic/rock music videos obviously vary depending on the lyrics and emotion the song evokes, but typically the song is about their lives, their friends, their loved ones or family. Many of these bands and artist's music videos affect people on a personal level, songs that have a particular meaning to a specific person's personal experiences.
My music video is based on a young man trying to film his music video for his new song, however everytime he tries to perform his song, something goes wrong. This could relate to millions of people who have tried very hard to create a successful music video, and have failed. The song's lyrics fit the song perfectly, as the song is called 'Brand New Day' emphasizing that everytime the music video goes wrong, he just gets up and tries again, which again could relate to any person in a similar situation in their lives.
